In the last two years theses five Viennese hipsters conquered some of the biggest stages and coolest venues the European sixties – scene has to offer by storm! With their explosive mixture of raw Beat and old school Rhythm’n’Blues they toured Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Germany and of course Austria and made every Club or Festival look like the legendary Crawdaddy in ’65.
Recommendations all over the world, like from the famous Hilton Valentine (The Animals) made them sign a contract at Cheap Rec. Rocks and Screaming Apple Records, who’ll bring you their long awaited debut album on finest vinyl and CD, as well as some 7”-singles in the near future!
Lightning Iris (from The Incredible Staggers) is currently producing a video for these five charming men – so it’s guaranteed that their mixture of elegance, presence, fury and energy will be captured on tape!

CALIBRO 35 (italian jazzfunk legend)
Milano, studio di registrazione, interno giorno: il gruppo di musicisti inizia a suonare.
Massimo Martellotta (Stewart Copeland, Eugenio Finardi, Mauro Pagani) è alle chitarre e alle lapsteel, Enrico Gabrielli (Afterhours, Mariposa, Morgan) su organi e fiati, Fabio Rondanini (Pino Marino, Roberto Angelini, Collettivo Angelo Mai) alla batteria, Luca Cavina (Transgender, Lindo Ferretti, Beatrice Antolini) al basso elettrico e Tommaso Colliva (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Arto Lindsay) ai controlli in regia. Quattro musicisti nella stessa stanza; chitarre fuzz, organi distorti, bassi ipnotici e funky grooves riempiono l'atmosfera. Il primo capitolo della saga, dedicato alle musiche di polizieschi e action thriller, prende il nome di "Calibro35".
Subito dopo le prime registrazioni il progetto è chiaro: interpretare il repertorio delle soundtracks italiane cercando di farle proprie ma al contempo rimanendo fedeli e rispettosi all'opera dei grandi Maestri. La composizione di musiche originali segue lo stesso percorso: il gruppo cerca di ritrovare il suono, l'attitudine e quella coesistenza di generi che hanno reso famoso in tutto il mondo il gusto italiano nella musica per le immagini. Non è un caso che le prime esibizioni del gruppo siano avvenute all'estero, in Lussemburgo e Belgio e che il Funk&Sould Show di Charles Craig sulla BBC abbia trasmesso un rough mix di "Italia A Mano Armata" pochi giorni dopo la sua comparsa su Myspace.
Dalla primavera 2008 il gruppo tiene concerti in Italia e Europa mentre la versione de "L'Appuntamento" con la partecipazione di Roberto dell'Era ottiene una notevole attenzione nel mondo radiofonico. Alessio Bertallot inizia a trasmettere la canzone durante "BSide" e ben presto Radio DeeJay chiede di poter offrire la traccia in download gratuito dall'homepage del suo sito.
A testimonianza della trasversalità del progetto musicale nell'estate seguente Calibro35 partecipa a manifestazioni molto diverse tra di loro: festival di musica classica (Ravenna Festival), Jazz oriented (Jazz ReFound), indie (MIAMI e MEI) e radiofonici (RadioIncontri). Il primo cd, uscito ad Ottobre su Cinedelic records ottiene notevole attenzione dalla stampa italiana: XL, BlowUp (8/10), Rumore (8/10), Jam (4/4), Rockstar (4/4), Rocksound (4/4), Mucchio, Raro!tra gli altri. Da dicembre l'album, di cui è prevista un'edizione in doppio vinile a Gennaio 2009, è distribuito in tutto il mondo da OurDistribution. DustyGroove descrive il gruppo come "Totally Great" e MoovieGrooves e Soundtrack Corner lo eleggono tra i loro preferiti.

yl crates for obscure samples. The discovery of italian '60s and '70s soundtracks was a crucial point; from that moment on nothing sounded as good and interesting as electrifying tracks from exploitation movies.
By the summer of 2007 time was ready and Tommaso Colliva (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Arto Lindsay) invited an incredible jam band formed by Massimo Martellotta (Stewart Copeland, Eugenio Finardi, Mauro Pagani) on guitars and lapsteels, Enrico Gabrielli (Afterhours, Mariposa, Morgan) keyboards and brass, Fabio Rondanini (Pino Marino, Roberto Angelini, Collettivo Angelo Mai) on drums and Luca Nano Cavina (Transgender, Lindo Ferretti, Beatrice Antolini) on bass to record at omniaB studios in Milan.
During that first two days long recording session Calibro 35 became a killer combo performing classic and obscure themes, trying to bring something contemporary to the compositions but still remaining very respectful to the originals. Original tunes appeared soon with the same aim, recreating the attitude, the sound and that strange mixture between jazz, funk, rock, classical and improvvisation that made italian soundtracks known worldwide.
Band started touring few months later, having his first ever gigs in Luxemburg and Belgium and then moving back to Italy for some very crowded show during spring and summer 2008. Meanwhile the single "L'Appuntamento" gave Calibro35 lot of airplay on commercial radios leading DeeJay - italian most important national radio station - to offer the mp3 on download on their homepage. Both traditional (BBC Funk&Soul show among the others) and online european radios played "Italia A Mano Armata" and other songs from the cd.
The first self-titled album came out on October 2008 on Cinedelic records, the cd is currentlly available worldwide and the double vinyl version will follow soon (January 2009). The album got some enthusiastic reviews on italian press and obtained very high rates on a lot of music magazines including XL, BlowUp (8 out of 10), Jam (4 out of 4), Rumore (8 out of 10), Rocksound (4 out of 4), Rockstar (4 out of 4).
